Content Rules

OeruVersion 2[DRAFT · 21 September 2026 · For discussion purposes only]

Published in English.

Contents

These Content Rules govern what you may make, publish and Boost using Oeru. They form part of our Terms of Use, and words defined there have the same meaning here.

These Rules are our own policy. They set what we will and will not produce or publish on our channels. They are not a statement of what Malaysian law permits, and keeping to them does not relieve you of your own obligation to comply with the law that applies to your trade.

1The short version

  1. (a)Everything you publish must be true.
  2. (b)The people in our Outputs are AI. Never present them as real.
  3. (c)Honour every offer you advertise.
  4. (d)Only advertise what you are licensed and entitled to sell.
  5. (e)If your trade or your claim needs a licence or an advertising approval, hold it before you publish.
  6. (f)Use only material you have the right to use.

2Everything you publish must be true

2.1

You are responsible for every claim in an Output you publish or Boost. We generate the material; you decide what it says about your business.

2.2

You must not publish anything which is false or misleading about:

  1. (a)what your goods or services are, or what they do;
  2. (b)their price, or any discount, saving or comparison against a previous or usual price;
  3. (c)their availability, including quantity, dates and outlets;
  4. (d)any approval, certification, standard, award, licence or accreditation;
  5. (e)their origin, ingredients, composition or manufacture; or
  6. (f)any endorsement, affiliation or sponsorship.
2.3

If you cannot prove a claim, do not make it. Keep the evidence for any claim you publish, because you may need it. The Trade Descriptions Act 2011 puts the burden of proving that a statement in an advertisement is true on the person who made it, and treats a claim made without caring whether it is true as recklessly made.

2.4

Words like “best”, “number one”, “cheapest”, “guaranteed”, “clinically proven” and “certified” are claims. Use them only if they are true and you can show it.

3AI-generated people and the AI notice

3.1

The ambassador faces in an Output are generated by artificial intelligence. They are not photographs of real people, they are not your customers, and they have not used or endorsed anything.

3.2

Where an Output shows a person generated by AI, we place a notice on it identifying it as AI-generated. You must keep that notice visible. You must not remove it, obscure it, crop it out or edit it out. This is not a setting and it is not negotiable.

3.3

You must not:

  1. (a)describe an AI-generated person as a real person, a customer, a patient, a client or a user;
  2. (b)present an AI-generated person as giving a testimonial, a review, a rating or an endorsement;
  3. (c)caption an Output in a way that suggests a real event, a real result or a real experience took place; or
  4. (d)pair an AI-generated person with a quotation attributed to a named or describable individual.
3.4

Before-and-after images, results shots and anything that implies an outcome must reflect a real outcome actually achieved by your goods or services. Do not generate one.

4Offers, vouchers and prices

4.1

If you advertise an offer, a voucher, a price or a discount, you must honour it on the terms shown, for everyone who takes it up during the period shown.

4.2

Every offer must state, on the face of it or in the caption: what the customer gets, the price or discount, the dates it runs, the outlets where it applies, and anything a customer needs to do to qualify.

4.3

If stock or capacity is limited, say so and say how limited. Do not advertise what you cannot supply.

4.4

Prices must be the price the customer actually pays. If tax or a service charge is added, say so. If a price applies only in one size, one variant or one outlet, say which.

4.5

Do not run an offer you intend to withdraw early, and do not use an offer to bring customers in for something else.

5What you may not make or publish

5.1

You may not use Oeru to make, publish or Boost anything which:

  1. (a)is unlawful, or promotes or helps anyone do anything unlawful;
  2. (b)is obscene, indecent, menacing or grossly offensive, or is intended to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass anyone;
  3. (c)is hateful towards, or demeaning of, any person or group, including by reference to race, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sex, disability or age;
  4. (d)shows or involves a child in a sexualised way, or shows a child in any commercial context without the consent of a parent or guardian;
  5. (e)is sexually explicit, or advertises adult goods, services or venues;
  6. (f)advertises gambling, betting, lotteries or any game of chance played for money;
  7. (g)advertises weapons, ammunition, explosives or items designed to cause harm;
  8. (h)advertises illegal drugs, controlled substances, or any product presented as a substitute for them;
  9. (i)advertises counterfeit, stolen or smuggled goods, or goods that infringe someone’s trade mark;
  10. (j)promotes a pyramid scheme, a get-rich-quick scheme, or an investment or return that is not what it appears to be;
  11. (k)impersonates any person, business or public body, or falsely suggests a connection with one; or
  12. (l)targets, identifies or is likely to cause harm to a particular individual.

6Licences, approvals and regulated categories

6.1

Some trades, and some claims, are separately regulated in Malaysia. Holding the licences and approvals your content requires is your responsibility. We do not check them and we do not hold them for you.

6.2

Your warranty. Each time you ask us to produce an Output, and each time you publish or Boost one, you warrant to us that:

  1. (a)you hold every licence, registration, permit and approval which your trade and that content require, that each of them is valid and unexpired, and that the content falls within its scope;
  2. (b)where the content is an advertisement for which the prior approval of the Medicines Advertisement Board is required under the Medicines (Advertisement and Sale) Act 1956, that approval has been granted to you, it covers that content and the medium in which it is to appear, and it has not expired;
  3. (c)the content is not within Clause 6.4; and
  4. (d)the content complies with every written law applying to the advertisement of your goods or services.
6.3

Approval numbers. Where an approval number must appear on the face of an advertisement, you must give us that number when you make your request. We will place it on the Output as you have given it to us, and you must not remove it, obscure it, crop it out or edit it out. If you do not give us a number for content in a category in Clause 6.5, we may decline to produce or to Boost it.

6.4

What no warranty can cure. We will not produce, publish or Boost content which offers to treat, prevent, cure or alleviate any disease or condition specified in the Schedule to the Medicines (Advertisement and Sale) Act 1956, or which refers to any article in terms calculated to lead to its use for any purpose within Section 3(1)(c) of that Act. Those advertisements are prohibited outright and no approval is available for them.

6.5

Regulated categories. The categories below carry a licensing or approval requirement, or a history of regulatory complaint. Your warranty in Clause 6.2 matters most here, and we scrutinise this content more closely before we Boost it.

Health and medical
Medicines, supplements, health foods, medical devices, treatments, clinics and anything presented as preventing, treating, curing or improving a condition. Prior approval of the Medicines Advertisement Board is required before publication, and the approval number must be given to us under Clause 6.3.
Beauty and wellness claims
Slimming, whitening, hair growth, anti-ageing and similar. Where a treatment claim is coupled with an offer, a discount or a voucher, approval may also be required under Section 4A of the Medicines (Advertisement and Sale) Act 1956. Results claims and before-and-after images must be real.
Financial services and credit
Loans, moneylending, financing, investment, insurance, takaful and financial advice.
Tobacco, vape and alcohol
Including accessories and anything that promotes use.
Direct selling and recruitment
Multi-level marketing, distributorship recruitment and income claims of any kind.
Education and migration
Qualifications, placement, visas and immigration assistance.
Professional services
Legal, accounting, audit, tax, company secretarial, engineering and architecture.
Food safety and origin
Halal, organic, sugar-free, allergen-free and similar claims, which must be substantiated and certified where certification is required.
6.6

Our discretion. We may ask you for a copy of any licence, certificate or approval, and may decline to produce, publish or Boost until we receive it. We are not obliged to ask, to check or to verify, and our not asking is not an acceptance that you hold anything.

6.7

If a warranty in Clause 6.2 turns out to be wrong, tell us at once so that we can remove the content. Clause 9 of these Rules and the indemnity in Clause 17 of the Terms of Use apply.

7Other people’s rights

7.1

Upload only material you own or are licensed to use. That includes photographs, logos, fonts, music, artwork, packaging and text.

7.2

You must not upload or include:

  1. (a)another business’s logo, trade mark, packaging or brand imagery, except your own or one you are authorised to use;
  2. (b)a photograph, name, voice or likeness of a real person without that person’s consent;
  3. (c)a photograph of a customer, staff member or member of the public taken without their knowledge;
  4. (d)a character, mascot, film still, album cover, song or other work belonging to someone else; or
  5. (e)the personal data of anyone who has not agreed to your using it in your marketing.
7.3

Do not name, picture or refer to a competitor, and do not compare your goods or services to theirs by name.

8Boost

8.1

Boost publishes your approved Output on our own social media accounts. Because they are our accounts, we apply these Rules more strictly to Boosted content than to content you download and publish yourself.

8.2

We may decline to Boost, and may remove a Boosted post at any time, if we consider it breaches these Rules, is unlawful, or is likely to expose you, us or anyone else to liability or complaint. We will tell you if we do.

8.3

We choose what appears on our accounts, in what order and for how long. We promise no level of reach, views, engagement, enquiries or sales, and Credits used for Boost are not returned because a campaign underperformed.

8.4

If a customer complains to us about a Boosted offer, we will pass the complaint to you and you must deal with it. We may remove the post while you do.

8.5

When we Boost, we publish on our own accounts in reliance on your warranty in Clause 6.2. If anything in that warranty ceases to be true, or an approval you rely on expires or is withdrawn, tell us immediately and we will take the post down. Until you tell us, we are entitled to treat the warranty as correct.

9If these rules are broken

9.1

Depending on what has happened, we may refuse a request, decline to publish, remove a published Output, require you to correct and republish, suspend your Account, or end your Terms of Use.

9.2

For a first breach that is capable of being put right, we will normally tell you and give you a reasonable chance to fix it. For a serious breach, and for anything unlawful, we may act immediately.

9.3

Credits spent on an Output we remove for breach of these Rules are not returned.

9.4

Nothing in these Rules limits what we may do under the Terms of Use.

10Telling us about a problem

If you think something published through Oeru breaches these Rules, or infringes your rights, write to us at support@oeru.com or message our business line at 011-1797 1289. Tell us what the content is, where you saw it, and what the problem is. We acknowledge within 2 business days and tell you how we propose to deal with it.
